Richard Cockerill says Leicester Tigers expect another "tough challenge" from Benetton Treviso in Italy on Saturday.

Tigers and their Italian hosts have been paired in the pool stages in Europe for a fifth time in eight seasons, with Treviso at home in Round 2 this weekend.

“We know they are always tough to play against," said director of rugby Cockerill. “We’ve been there and won with scores very late in the game on a couple of occasions so we know how tough the challenge can be.

“We need to play our game, we need to be physical and we need to be accurate. We treat them with the respect that any opponent in Europe deserves.”

Tigers opened the tournament with a bonus-point win over Stade Francais at Welford Road last Friday and are looking for back-to-back wins at the start of a European campaign for the first time since 2011.

Treviso were beaten 32-7 away to Munster in Round 1 and they host Tigers before back-to-back meetings with Stade Francais in December.

Saturday’s game will be the ninth between the two clubs in Europe’s elite club tournament.

Treviso’s squad this season includes Robert Barbieri who spent 2014/15 with the Tigers and they have 18 international players registered in their European Cup squad, including Italy caps Alberto di Marchi, Marco Fuser, Edoardo Gori and Luke McLean, plus former England lock Tom Palmer.

Tigers welcomed Marcos Ayerza and Ed Slater back from injury for the win over Stade Francais which was sealed with tries from Vereniki Goneva, Matt Smith, Ben Youngs and debutant Brendon O’Connor.

Team news from both camps is announced on the club website and social media pages at noon on Friday.

The return fixture at Welford Road is on the weekend of January 15/16/17. Kick-off date and time will be confirmed at the conclusion of Round 4 in December.

The next home game in the European Champions Cup is against Munster Rugby on Sunday, December 20 (5.15pm). This fixture, and all pool fixtures in the tournament, is included in Tigers season tickets.
