Monday's 'A' League fixture called off

The Premiership 'A' League fixture away to Northampton Saints, scheduled for Monday evening (September 15), has been cancelled.

With a large number of first-team players ruled out by injury, as well as a number of those who made their Development XV debuts last Monday evening, this has unfortunately left Tigers in a situation where they would have had to compromise player safety in respect of the age of the team, particularly in the front row.

Tigers have therefore been left with no option but to cancel the fixture.

Tigers kicked off the Aviva Premiership season last Saturday with Marcos Ayerza away on international duty with Argentina and more than a dozen players ruled out by injury, including club captain Ed Slater and senior players Anthony Allen, Louis Deacon, Miles Benjamin, Gonzalo Camacho, Dan Cole, Scott Hamilton, Geoff Parling, Michele Rizzo and Adam Thompstone.

Twelve players made their Development XV debuts in a young side in the opening match of the ‘A’ League campaign, against Newcastle Falcons last Monday, including youngsters Paolo Odogwu, Charlie Thacker, Charlie Beckett, Will Owen, Dan Hogan, Oliver Povoas, Gift Sankoh and Reuben Norville.

The next scheduled fixture in the ‘A’ League programme is at home to Worcester Cavaliers on Monday, September 22 (7pm).
