Moody is the man to lead England

Leicester Tigers flanker Lewis Moody will captain England for the first time in the RBS 6 Nations fixture against France on Saturday.

Steve Borthwick has been ruled out with a knee injury, meaning promotion to the starting XV for Tigers lock Louis Deacon and the switch of captaincy to club colleague Moody. Tom Palmer (Stade Francais) joins the bench as replacement lock.

Leicester Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill said: “Lewis is a very experienced international and we all wish him and his colleagues well for Saturday.

“Going to play against France in Paris is a big challenge for any team, but Moodos has great experience of the biggest occasions in rugby with Tigers, England and the Lions, and I’m sure he’ll do a good job.”

Kick-off in the Stade de France is at 7.45pm and the match will be shown live by BBC TV.
