Niall Morris says there is more at stake than LV= Cup pool stage points when Leicester Tigers play Northampton Saints on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).A capacity 24,000 crowd is expected at Welford Road for the Round 3 fixture between the East Midlands neighbours.
Both teams are top of their respective LV= Cup pools with nine points and eyeing a place in the semi-finals of the Anglo-Welsh Cup.
“It’s 100 per cent go for us,” Morris said. “There is more than just the LV= Cup. It’s a local derby, it’s sold out, there’s pride at stake. It’s a massive game for us.
"After winning the first two games in the competition there is still a chance of a home semi-final so there is everything to play for in the competition.”
Morris has been out since September after sustaining an ankle injury in Round 3 of the Aviva Premiership.
He made his return in last weekend’s European Rugby Champions Cup game away to Ulster Rugby and says he is delighted to be back on the field.
"It was not the best circumstances in the end but to get back on the pitch after four-and-a-half months out was a nice personal satisfaction,” says Morris.
“It’s been incredibly frustrating. I got injured in the third game of the season. It ended up being much worse than originally expected.
“Hopefully it is something I can put behind me and stay fit for the rest of the season and have a good run.”
The last few tickets for the LV= Cup game against Northampton Saints are on sale now from the Tigers ticket office on 0116 319 8888 and by clicking here. Tickets are also available via StubHub, Tigers’ official marketplace, by clicking here.
