New signing McGuigan on Saxons bench

New signing George McGuigan is set for his second appearance for England Saxons after being named on the bench for the second Test against South Africa A on Friday.

McGuigan, who moves to Welford Road from Newcastle Falcons this summer, came off the bench for his Saxons debut in their 32-24 win in Bloemfontein last week.

Now the hooker has been named among the replacements for the second Test, which will be played in George on Friday. Kick-off is at 6.10pm BST and will be live on Sky Sports 3.

The Saxons have made three changes to the starting XV. Christian Wade (Wasps) starts in place of Alex Lewington (London Irish), while Dave Ewers (Exeter Chiefs) comes in to start at blindside flanker, with Don Armand (Exeter Chiefs) moving to Number 8. Exeter’s Sam Hill comes onto the bench.

Head coach Ali Hepher said: “South Africa will come back with an improved performance and so we need to make a shift as big, if not bigger than they do.”
