Steve and his girlfriend Gemma attended the Tigers’ five-try Guinness Premiership win over Worcester Warriors and just one game is all that it took to convince them to register their interest in season tickets.
“Gemma is the rugby fan really and she follows the game on TV,” says 34-year-old Steve, from Tamworth in Staffordshire.
“Valentine’s Day and Gemma’s 25th birthday were quite close together, so I thought I’d buy some tickets for a Tigers match because neither of us had ever been to Welford Road before.
“We went to the Worcester match and really enjoyed it. There is a great atmosphere inside the ground and we had a great day.
“Now we’re on The List to buy season tickets for 2009/10.”
Tigers have announced that there will be no increase in season ticket prices for 2009/10. In real terms, a season ticket represents even better value for money as there will be at least one extra game included in next season.
The club has also revealed plans to introduce a new ‘Young Adult and Full-Time Student’ season ticket to help supporters to bridge the gap between junior and adult prices.
Club managing director David Clayton said: “The Board decided that prices should be held at the 2008/09 renewal rates for all season tickets bought before June 1 2009 and, even after that date, season tickets will be charged at the current first-time buyer’s rate.
“We believe our season tickets represent excellent value for money, especially as there will be at least one extra home fixture next season, and possibly two, whichever way the fixture list is agreed.
“We are introducing a new season ticket for full-time students, irrespective of age, and young adults aged between 16 and 21 because we recognise that many supporters in this age range may be in their first jobs and on relatively low incomes. I am sure this will prove a popular addition to the ticketing structure.”
Tigers have also added family season ticket availability in Gold category seating for the first time in 2009/10.
With the redevelopment of the Caterpillar Stand increasing capacity at Welford Road in time for the new season, more than 1,000 supporters have already added their name to ‘The List’ to register their interest in Tigers tickets.
