No secret to success says Costelow

Leicester Tigers academy fly-half Sam Costelow says there is no secret to the unbeaten run in this season's Under-18 League, just effort and teamwork which continue to deliver victories for the young cubs.

Speaking after the 52-5 victory over Wasps on Saturday which lifted Tigers to top of the northern table and continued their undefeated season despite missing four players who were called up for Anglo-Welsh Cup action in the senior squad, Costelow attributed the success of 2018 to the simple things being done right.

"There's no secret, we're just working hard," he said.

"We're working hard as a team and it's just working out as we're continuing to get better as a team."

Despite windy and wet conditions from the opening whistle, the young Leicester side ran in eight tries to one over their Midlands rivals, with the fly-half adding six conversions from as many attempts before being withdrawn in the final 10 minutes.

"I think we played the territory quite well," Costelow said. "I thought we stuck to our system and really did well, considering the conditions out there.

"We were quite clinical today ... it was a good performance from the boys."

Tigers face Yorkshire Carnegie away next weekend before hosting Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, February 17 in the final fixture of the regular season, and Costelow is hopeful that the winning ways continue through up to and including Finals Day in March 10.

"We just want to keep those wins coming," he said. "I really hope we continue the form. We're working hard in training to get that 'W' at the end of the season."
