Ollie delighted to be in Saxons fold

Figure image
Tigers centre Ollie Smith admits he is delighted to be back involved in the England Saxons set up having been selected for this summer's Barclays Churchill Cup.

The 25-year-old, who was part of the Saxons squad during the 2008 Six Nations period, joins fellow Tigers Richard Blaze, George Chuter, Jordan Crane and Tom Varndell in the 28-man squad.

“I’ve not been on tour with an England side before, so I’m really looking forward to it,” says Smith, who has five senior England caps to his name.

“I enjoyed my time with the Saxons during the Six Nations. I had a good relationship with the coaches and I’m looking forward to that continuing.

“I haven’t played much rugby recently so it’ll be good to be involved. It’s good to see the other guys from Leicester in there as well. Toronto and Chicago are great cities, so that’s an added bonus.”
