Player award capped a great month, says Crane

Jordan Crane says his Goldsmiths Player of the Month award capped a fantastic January for him.

Crane began the month with a brace of tries that helped Tigers move top of the Aviva Premiership with a 22-15 victory over Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park.

The Tigers and England No8 then made his 100th start for the club in the Heineken Cup win away to Scarlets.

And the following week the 24-year-old scored his first hat-trick for the club in the Heineken Cup victory over Benetton Treviso at Welford Road, and captained the side during the second half.

His contribution was recognised by the Tigers fans who voted him their Goldsmiths Player of the Month at www.goldsmiths.co.uk/tigers ahead of Anthony Allen and Louis Deacon.

“To win the award is great,” said Crane. “It is really nice to be voted by the supporters. It is great that it comes from the fans and that they recognise what you have done.

“I had a good month and managed to score a few tries.

“It was also a big honour for me to captain the team at Welford Road, and to score a hat-trick as well. I also had my 100th start for the club so it was a big month for me and to be the Goldsmiths Player of the Month was a great way to finish it off.”
