Players support Look for Madeleine

THE England Rugby squad showed their solidarity with the family of missing Madeleine McCann by wearing T-shirts showing the youngster's face at their training camp in Portugal.

In support of parents Kate and Gerry, the players and management - including Leicester Tigers men Martin Corry, Lewis Moody, George Chuter, Ben Kay, Louis Deacon and Dan Hipkiss - dispensed with their usual training tops in favour of the T-shirts for their session at Browns Sports Training Centre at Vilamoura in the Algarve. The centre is east of Praia da Luz where four-year-old Madeleine disappeared from the family's holiday apartment on May 3.

The white T-shirts have been made for the squad and show Madeleine's face on the front and the Look for Maddie logo and http://www.findmadeleine.com/ website on the back.

Kate and Gerry, from Rothley in Leicestershire, met England head coach Brian Ashton and thanked him for the squad's gesture, which has followed the thousands of messages of support they have received in the 62 days since Madeleine's disappearance.

Ashton said: "Tuesday was the second month anniversary of Madeline's disappearance and the England squad wanted to show their support for Madeline and her family at training. Our thoughts continue to be with them and we, like everyone else, hope that Madeline is returned safely."

Kate and Gerry said: "This is a wonderful, unprompted public demonstration of support from England's elite rugby players. We are very grateful for their encouragement and support. Thousands of people all over the world are doing everything in their power to help find Madeleine.  The most powerful resource we have are the millions of eyes all over the world, looking for our lovely daughter, Madeleine. This generous gesture from the England squad we hope, will remind sports fans that Madeleine is still missing."
