Smith's farewell to Tigers Family

Matt Smith speaks to LTTV after making his 228th and final appearance for Leicester in the Gallagher Premiership fixture against Bath Rugby at Welford Road.

An emotional Smith, holding his youngest son Felix in his arms, shares with LTTV what it meant to him to lead the team out with his eldest son Monty and the feeling when he walked from the pitch to a standing ovation from the more than 20,000 strong crowd at the home of the Tigers Family.

In a final 'thank you' to Leicester supporters, Smith also shares his final message to fans who voted the 32-year-old as LeoVegas Fans' Favourite for his performance in the last-gasp loss to the long-time Tigers rivals in their final outing of the 2018/19 campaign.

Smith received 51% of the vote via the Tigers App to see off contenders George Ford (21%) and Ellis Genge (7%) for the final award of the season after a strong display in the Leicester midfield for 65 minutes against Bath and opposite England international Jonathan Joseph at outside-centre.

In an emotional interview a week earlier, sitting in the historical Breedon Stand (formerly known as the Crumbie Stand) at Welford Road, Smith looked back on his decorated playing career with LTTV.

The Tigers Academy graduate retires with seven trophies to his name – including four Premiership titles – and will now take on the head coach role with the club's academy after acting as an assistant in their U18 League winning season during his final year as a player.
