Tigers pick up prizes at Premiership awards

Leicester Tigers Head Coach Steve Borthwick and players George Ford and Chris Ashton were award winners at the 2021/22 Premiership Rugby Awards on Tuesday evening in London.

Borthwick beat Chris Boyd (Northampton Saints), George Skivington (Gloucester), Mark McCall (Saracens) and Tabai Matson (Harlequins) to be voted as Director of Rugby of the season after leading Leicester to a first-place finish on the Gallagher Premiership league table after 26 rounds.

Fly-half Ford received the Golden Boot after registering 188 points from the kicking tee during the 2021/22 campaign.

In addition to picking up the Golden Boot, Ford and fellow Tigers Ellis Genge, Hanro Liebenberg and Freddie Steward were named as part of the BT Sport Dream Team of the season.

Ashton received a Special Premiership Award for breaking the Premiership's all-time try-scoring record with a 93rd career try in the league earlier this season.
