Leicester Tigers centre Seru Rabeni received a three-week suspension when he appeared before a Rugby Football Union disciplinary hearing in London on Tuesday.

Rabeni admitted dangerously tackling Newcastle Falcons centre Jamie Noon during the Guinness Premiership match at Welford Road on January 26, an offence contrary to Law 10 (4) (e).

He will be suspended until February 27 and will be free to resume playing on February 28. Rabeni will miss the Guinness Premiership away games against Gloucester and London Irish, and the home match against Sale Sharks.

He was cited by Peter Colston, the nominated Citing Officer, after the match.

A citing against Tigers fly-half Andy Goode for dangerously tackling Jonny Wilkinson during the same match was dismissed.

The panel of His Honour Judge Jeff Blackett (chairman), Jeremy Summers and Peter Budge considered that the yellow card issued to Goode during the match was sufficient punishment.

Goode, who was also cited by Peter Colston, is free to continue playing.
