Richard Wigglesworth said mistakes were the deciding factor in the one-point, 18-19 defeat to Northampton Saints at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
Speaking after the match, the Leicester Tigers Head Coach said: "We made too many errors which let them into the game."
Tigers welcomed back a handful of players for the return to Gallagher Premiership action against their East Midlands rivals, which Wigglesworth said will help to try and improve some consistency in the group.
However, admitted it doesn't get any easier as the Six Nations begins - including a host of Leicester players included in Test squads.
"To be consistent, you need a consistent team and we have not had that," he said.
"We got some guys back today, who will be better for the run, but obviously losing a lot in this next international block won't make anything easier.
"But, we're proud of all our guys who get international call-ups and the focus for us - this group that will be together for this next block - is improving the consistency."
Expanding on the errors from his side, Wigglesworth said he could not fault passion or effort on show but agreed that the group needed to improve when looking to convert.
"It happens [errors] when you're behind in a full-blooded game, errors come through when you're probably forcing things," said Wigglesworth.
"But the lads showed passion and effort, I can't fault that and won't fault that today. We simply didn't convert and take the opportunities we created."
Tigers now have back-to-back weekends without a match before returning to action against Saracens in three weeks at Mattioli Woods Welford Road and the Leicester squad will have a week without squad sessions said the boss.
"The lads will have a week off; a chance to try and give some battered bodies a bit of a break," he said.
"Win or lose, the break was planned for this period with a fortnight without a game - the result today was not going to decide if we had a week off.
"Lads will be frustrated, after a loss, not to be in next week but it's a season, a long season and the rest is due.
"It has been a bruising period and challenging in more ways than one, so they've earned the break and we'll pick back up together a week on Monday."
Speaking about Freddie Burns, who made his final appearance for the club in the defeat, Wigglesworth said: "I am excited to watch him go well in Super Rugby and, like everyone, wish him well for this next chapter."
"You saw today what he means to supporters and we will all be supporting him now in his time in New Zealand."
