Michael Cheika lamented the lack of execution from his side after suffering defeat away to Bath in the penultimate round of the Gallagher Premiership regular season.
When asked about the performance, Cheika said: "I thought we were quite physical today and defended well for a large part of the contest."
"But, more so probably disappointed that we didn't have that extra edge in attack. We spent a lot of that second half in our own end, through our own making, and we didn't have that extra edge to put the pressure back on them."
Both sides traded blows in the first half, with the lead changing hands throughout the first 40 minutes. Cheika's side then trailed by only nine points until the 66th minute when Bath scored the first of a trio of late tries to run away with the game.
Speaking further on the game, Cheika highlighted the lack of execution when it mattered.
"We were in the game at half time and still in it for a lot of the second half, but just didn't take opportunities today when we needed to. Even in the first half, there were chances we had that we didn't execute," said Cheika.
"When you are taking on the best team in the league at their home ground, you have to be taking your opportunities ... we paid the price today for not taking the chances we created. The weight of possession and weight of territory eventually took its toll on us this afternoon."
Looking ahead, Cheika was asked about what he would do differently if to draw Bath again in this season's playoffs.
"I'm not going to fall into any trap, we aren't going to fall into any trap as a team of thinking any further beyond Newcastle Falcons on May 31st," he said.
"That's our only game left on the schedule and then, anything after that, well our destiny is in our hands and we will deal with any of that if and when it comes.
"We got some lessons today as a side and have to make sure we learn from them, so that if we get the opportunity to come up against them again this season, we are ready for it. But, that's not relevant until the time comes and it won't unless we perform against Newcastle in two weeks at home."
