Reaction: McKellar on defeat in Dublin

Leicester Tigers head coach Dan McKellar has reacted to Tigers’ 36-22 defeat to Leinster in Saturday night’s Investec Champions Cup round of 16 clash.

Despite the good performance, McKellar’s side were left frustrated by missed opportunities in Leinster’s score-zone, and a period of the first half where Leinster’s scrum-half Jamison Gibson-Park bagged a hat-trick.

“There were a lot of positives in that game for us tonight, but this club doesn’t accept romantic losses, “McKellar said.

“Ultimately, they took all of their chances, and we didn’t take enough of ours and that was the difference.

“They’re a good side and if you give guys like Gibson-Park quick ball to play off they’ll hurt you and even though it was brief, they capitalised in that period in the first half.”

Tigers now look forward to an exciting Gallagher Premiership run-in, Leicester facing their rivals Northampton in two weeks.

“We know where want to be and we know we’ve got to be better, but we saw genuine transfer of what we’re working on tonight,” McKellar explained.

“We’ve got six games left to go and that’s our focus moving forward.”
