"We'll stick tight" - Liebenberg after Premiership Cup Final

Leicester Tigers captain Hanro Liebenberg has reacted to Tigers 23-13 defeat to Gloucester in the Premiership Cup final.

Tigers led 6-3 at halftime but a barrage of penalties and two yellow cards changed the momentum of the contest, and the Cherries were well deserved winners on the night.

Liebenberg said: “We’re frustrated, disappointed.”

“Obviously, we knew it was going to be a challenge coming down here to Gloucester but fair play to them, they put us under a massive spell of pressure in the second half which got them the win and then when we fired our shots it was too late.

“Frustrated but we’ll stick tight, dust ourselves off and get back on the horse next week at home.

“We said that at halftime, we were in complete control of the game, we defended really well, kicked really well; there wasn’t loads of points up for grabs, we had one chance, but we felt really confident.

“At the end of the day if you give away a few silly penalties, with a few yellow cards, you’re always going to struggle away from home.

“We’ve got to put up our hand, look at ourselves first, what put ourselves in those positions. If we defended a bit better on our own goal line, it might have just been some penalties but it’s something we’ve got to take ownership of going into next week.”
