Reaction: Hudson forthcoming about 'learning every day'

Speaking following the side's defeat to Loughborough Lightning, senior coach Tom Hudson was forthcoming in the struggles the team faced in adapting to life at the top level.

"We speak a lot about purple patches; teams in this league, at this level, are going to have those periods of form where everything comes together. We have been working to stem the flow of these, how to break them up, how to mitigate them but right now, in those periods, we are conceding too many tries.

"Right now, we're able to string together a brilliant half of rugby. Every game, we put together a period of 40 minutes, whether thats the first or second half, the last twenty minutes of the first half and first twenty minutes of the second, twenty minutes at the start and twenty at the end, whatever. We need to extend that time where we are in control.

"Whether it's experience, selection, match fitness, tactics; we need to look at the data we have and see how we can look to address it to keep our positive play up for even longer, until we're able to do so for a full game.

"We're learning every step of the way. We've already identified a couple of mistakes we've made that we will look to correct for next week (against Trailfinders Women).

This weekend sees the side travel to Trailfinders Women, where they will face the other team in the league still looking to find their feet at the elite level of women's rugby.

Backed by former Wasps coach Giselle Mather, Trailfinders Women have, like Tigers, made a considerable number of signings, totalling over 40 players at present.

"There's a lot of similarities between ourselves and Trailfinders. We know they are also still looking to fully gel as a squad, we know they're still adapting to life at this top level and, just like us, we know they enjoy playing attacking, running rugby and have threats all over the field.

"We're still finding the balance between running rugby and the set-piece game. It's something we've struggled with so far and an area we are always looking to get better".
