And you won't have to miss the action from the Heineken Cup Final as there will be big-screen coverage in the Tiger Bar.
Paula Robertson, of Relay For Life Leicester, said: “It is being held to raise awareness about the disease and the work of Cancer Research UK, and to celebrate the courage and strength of our local community’s cancer survivors’ and their families and friends, many of whom are coming to the event and entering teams to take part in the carnival atmosphere to raise as much money as possible for the leading work that Cancer Research UK does.”
Relay For Life involves teams of around 12 members who take it in turns to walk, jog or skip around the track for 24 hours.
The event features family entertainment including live music, fairground rides, face painting and fun and games for children as well as raffles, competitions and food stalls.
The Candle of Hope Ceremony will be held at 9.30pm on Saturday.
Donations for the event can be made either on the day, or through the website www.donatetomyrelay.org/leicester
All money raised helps to fund Cancer Research UK’s research to improve understanding of the disease and investigate how best to prevent, diagnose and treat different forms of cancer.
