Renewal options prove popular

Leicester Tigers have received more than 11,000 season ticket renewals for next season ? and almost half of that number have taken up the option to renew for at least two years.

Multi-year deals were introduced for the first time this summer and the club report that 30% of season ticket renewals have taken up the three-year option and another 17% have renewed for two years, with the prices frozen at the current rates.

"The loyalty of Leicester Tigers supporters is fantastic and the renewal rates for season tickets are consistently high every summer," said managing director David Clayton.

"That is the case again. Year on year, these figures are in line with 2007 and we would expect to exceed last year's season ticket figures before the start of the new campaign in September.

"The number of supporters who have been interested in the multi-year options has exceeded our early expectations.

"When we first proposed the multi-year scheme and the new easy-payment options to the Supporters Forum they were warmly received and the reaction of many of our season ticket holders would confirm that impression.

"Season ticket sales are a very important part of our income and the two and three-year renewals will help fund the first phase of our stadium development.

"We believe we have offered our existing season ticket holders an interesting package for the new season and the renewal figures would suggest a large number of our supporters agree.

"Anyone buying a season ticket for the first time will also be able to take advantage of our two and three-year deals and the easy-payment scheme we have introduced.''

Average league attendances at Welford Road topped 17,200 for the first time last season, a figure approximately 7,000 more than the average for the Guinness Premiership.

The club's redevelopment plans, which will ultimately take capacity to 30,000, gained planning consent this year and construction is due to start this summer, though existing seating will be unaffected in 2008/09 as work will be undertaken around and behind the existing North Stand.

"A lot of our supporters are keen to be in place ready for the new accommodation on that side of the ground and, as well as supporters renewing their season tickets, there has also been considerable  interest in availability for the start of the 2009/10 season when the new stand is completed," said Clayton.

When the final season ticket renewals have been processed, the Tigers ticket office will deal with relocation requests and then new applications for season tickets.

Individual matchday tickets will go on sale in late July to members and early August to non-members, subject to availability.
