Leicester Tigers Academy were defeated by Newcastle Falcons in Round 3 of the 2022/23 Under-18 League.

The seven-point, 22-29 defeat at Loughborough University was the first for The Cubs this season after back-to-back wins in the opening rounds.

Tigers trailed Newcastle by 24 points after four tries to Falcons in the opening 20 minutes before getting on the scoreboard in the 26th minute with a try to hooker Harry Clarke.

Falcons hit back with their fifth - and final - try six minutes later to lead 29-5.

Clarke scored his second in the 34th minute before replacement scrum-half Jack Dickens crossed for Leicester’s third in the 45th minute, which was converted by full-back Harry Simpson.

Outside-back Alex Garrett crossed for the Tigers fourth in the 55th minute to see the hosts seven points short of their Newcastle counterparts, which is where it remained until full-time.
