Italy international prop Michele Rizzo has been added to the Leicester Tigers squad for Europe following injury to Ellis Genge.

Tournament organisers EPCR have today confirmed ‘Additional Players’ registered for the participating clubs ahead of Round 3 this weekend, with Rizzo added to Leicester’s list.

Rizzo has been on loan at Edinburgh in the PRO14 since the start of the season but has not been included in their European Challenge Cup campaign.

Tigers head coach Matt O’Connor has confirmed the club is assessing a shoulder injury which forced Genge out of the action before half-time in Saturday’s Aviva Premiership fixture against Wasps just a week after his first starting appearance for England in the win over Samoa.

Each club may select three Additional Players, one of whom must be a front-row player, during the course of the pool stages of European competition. The nominated Additional Player replaces a registered member of the squad and no club can exceed 41 players at any time during the pool stage. The de-registered player may return to the squad at a later date during the pool stage and replace the Additional Player.
