Julian Salvi says he cannot wait to pull on the famous Leicester Tigers colours and run out in front of the Welford Road crowd.

Australian flanker Salvi has arrived at Welford Road for pre-season training and says he is looking forward to the challenge of playing for the nine-times English champions.

Salvi, who played three times for former club Bath Rugby at Welford Road during the 2009/10 season, says: "I have done it from the other end so to run out as a Tiger with 24,000 people at Welford Road, that will be an unbelievable experience and one I can’t wait to do.”

Salvi has made more than 50 appearances for the Brumbies in two spells either side of a season in the Premiership with Bath Rugby.

The 25-year-old is a former Australia Schools and Under-21s captain, the openside flanker has also represented Australia 'A' in two IRB Pacific Nations Cup campaigns.

“I have known about Tigers for a long time and there is a whole bunch of players back home who are jealous I am part of this club and can call myself a Tiger now,” says Salvi.

“It has a great rapport back home and a great rapport here. To be part of it, I can’t wait to put on a jersey and get out there now.”

Tigers' next game at Welford Road is the pre-season fixture against Lyon on Saturday, August 20 (2pm) before they begin the Aviva Premiership season at home to Exeter Chiefs on Saturday, September 3.
