A Saxons call-up is just one step away from senior international honours and the World Cup squad supplies a number of examples for Saxons hopefuls to try to emulate.
Wasps winger Paul Sackey and Bath's Olly Barkley both wore Saxons colours in the final of the Churchill Cup last season before playing a major role at the World Cup. Shaun Perry, Mike Catt and Toby Flood also saw Saxons service in 2006/07, and they provide extra incentive for all Saxons hopefuls, including Leicester Tigers No.8 Jordan Crane.
The 21-year-old back rower gained Saxons recognition last season after England caps at U-18, U-19 and U-21 levels, and played in the Churchill Cup Final victory over New Zealand Maori.
"The progress of players who were in the Saxons last season shows everyone just what is possible," said Crane.
"It is good for everyone to see those guys do well who have been in the Saxons squad and gone on to the World Cup. Shane Geraghty, too, was with the Saxons and made the training squad before the World Cup.
"The Saxons is seen as a good stepping stone towards senior international rugby."
Tickets are on sale now for the Saxons vs Ireland A match at Welford Road - the first international at this level on Leicester's home ground since 1998.
Tigers have been awarded the game by the Rugby Football Union and have been able to negotiate discount prices for season ticket holders and members. To take advantage of this offer, tickets must be purchased before December 10.
Prices start from just £10 standing and £12 seating for adult season ticket holders, and £15/£18 for members.
Season ticket holders are also able to buy as many additional tickets as they want before the deadline at the members' prices so you can make it an occasion for the whole family or a group of friends. Members can purchase additional tickets at the agreed members' prices.
Seats are sold on a first come, first served basis so season ticket holders are advised to book early if they want to secure their usual spaces.
