Shane looking for chance at Thomond

Despite having played all bar the last two seasons of his rugby in his native Ireland, Tigers flanker Shane Jennings admits he has never run out at Thomond Park. The 25-year-old hopes that will change this Saturday, as he looks to win his place in the Leicester line-up for the crucial Heineken Cup clash with Munster.

"I've never played at Thomond Park," said Jennings. "Whether I was playing against Munster Schools, U-21s or any other side it was always at Musgrave Park or up in Dublin. Even when I was playing with Mary's, we never seemed to get Shannon down there, so it's a first for me and I'm really looking forward to it."

Jennings acknowledges the passionate home support, but recognises that it is the Munster players who pose the biggest threat to Tigers' European hopes.

"They've got fantastic support, they really back their team, but they're not out there playing the game. It's the lads on the pitch you're playing against. A lot of our boys have played massive international games and World Cup matches and I'd imagine they'll have come up against the likes of it before. It will be a new experience for me and some of the other guys but it's the 15 lads we're playing against who we'll be more concerned about."

Jennings was part of the Tigers side that lost to their Irish rivals in a close encounter at Welford Road in October and admits that the defeat was hard to take.

"It was a massive disappointment at the time, but that's history now. We were disappointed with the way we played. We had an opportunity to close out the game and I, more than anyone, made a mess of that. That hurt us and we'll be looking to even things out a bit. It just shows what a quality side they are. We have to respect them and really up our game now. Nothing but a win will do on Saturday and we're really looking forward to it."

The Tigers pack has been in fine form and Jennings hopes that will continue against a formidable Munster eight.

"We're quite similar and we've got a lot of respect for them. They're a good mauling side, a good lineout side and a good scrummaging pack. They've got a lot of depth as well. They don't lose many games up front and this is a massive challenge for us. We pride ourselves on having a good pack and they're no different and that makes for an interesting game.

The Ireland A captain has agreed to join Leinster next season, but he is as determined as ever to bring some silverware back to Welford Road before he departs.

"I want to give my all for Leicester until I leave and I certainly want to win things here. That's why I came over here. We feel we're doing well and that we're capable of being successful. We just have to believe now that we can go down to Thomond Park and get the win to get out of the group and then take it to the next step in the next game that comes along."
