Leicester Tigers scrum-half Sam Wolstenholme will leave the club at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season to join Bristol Bears.

He joined Tigers on a short-term contract in January after previously playing for Wasps, where he made 30 appearances, who he joined from Yorkshire Carnegie ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Wolstenholme is yet to make a senior appearance for the club but is in line for his Leicester debut after being included among the replacements for Friday night's Heineken Champions Cup game against Edinburgh Rugby at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

Speaking about Wolstenholme, Leicester Tigers Interim Head Coach Richard Wigglesworth said: "Sam has worked really hard since joining the group and been a great member of the squad, who has helped promote competition for places with his efforts."

"He has earned a chance for a Leicester Tigers debut this Friday night because of the work he has done on the training pitch.

"I wish him all the best for this next move and am certain that work will continue through until the end of our season before he heads to Bristol in the summer."
