Stadium entry/exit information

Figure image
Work is now well under way on phase one of the redevelopment of Welford Road, with a new Caterpillar Stand on the north side of the stadium due to be completed for the start of the 2009/10 season.

Please note that new entry and exit routes are in operation on this side of the stadium. Read these carefully to reduce any inconvenience on matchday.

Using the Caterpillar Stand
A new entry and exit procedure is in place during the course of redevelopment work on the north side of Welford Road stadium. This is to allow the safe and efficient movement of supporters during the work.

The former car-parking area is a compound for contractors working on the Caterpillar Stand and car-parking has been moved to the Crumbie Stand side of the stadium on the site of the former Fosse Day Centre, with access from Aylestone Road.

A walkway is in use to allow entry to and exit from the Caterpillar Stand.

For supporters in the Caterpillar Stand
• A walkway has been installed adjacent to the contractors’ compound with entrances at each end. These are opened at the same time as the turnstiles, two hours before kick-off.
• Walkway gates are stewarded to control the flow to the turnstiles.
• Spectators with valid tickets for the Caterpillar Stand ONLY are allowed to enter the walkway.
• Pushchairs are not allowed in the walkway.
• Turnstile 2 (in the corner of the Caterpillar Stand near the Ticket Office has become an extra entrance to the Caterpillar Stand rather than the clubhouse end.
• An extra turnstile is available on Aylestone Walk for access to the Clubhouse Stand.
• The bars in the Caterpillar Stand are still in use.

All other supporters:
• Supporters wishing to enter any the Alliance & Leicester, Crumbie or Clubhouse Stands will not be allowed to use the walkway on the north side of the stadium as a thoroughfare to access their turnstile under any circumstances.
• Signs will be erected at each end of the stadium to provide supporter information and help to make sure supporters do not attempt to enter the walkway unless they sit in that stand.

For supporters in the Caterpillar Stand at the end of the game:
• Supporters in the Caterpillar Stand will be directed away from the top of each set of vomitory steps and will not be allowed to use the exits to the rear walkway.
• Exit is at each end of the Caterpillar Stand only.
• Extra pitchside stewards will direct supporters to their closest exit.
• Customers using the Droglites Bar will be allowed to use the vomitory steps to the bar only.

Parking at Welford Road
The club’s car-parking area on the Granby Halls side of the stadium is now closed and cordoned off as part of the construction compound. Car-parking for all visitors and guests is in the Crumbie Car Park, on the site of the former Fosse Day Centre. Access is from Aylestone Road, 100 yards before Aylestone Walk and the corner of the Clubhouse/Crumbie Stands.

These details are printed in the matchday programme and have been circulated to season ticket holders and members.
