Calum Green’s return to the Leicester forward pack has had an immediate impact after an impressive first outing from the Tigers lock in the bonus-point win over Exeter Chiefs at Welford Road.

Green played the full 80 minutes in his return to action for the club where he made his professional rugby debut as a 17-year-old a decade ago and made 13 tackles, 31 clean outs at the ruck and impressed at the set-piece with 2 line-out steals.

Hanro Liebenberg, in his club debut, managed 3 line-out steals, made 12 tackles and 20 clean outs in a strong 80 minute performance to kick off his Tigers career.

Harry Wells, who started the match on the bench before being injected in to the game earlier than planned to play 54 minutes, topped the match for carries with 9, made 13 tackles and stole 1 line-out from Exeter, which saw the visitors finish the match with 6 lost on their own throw.

In just his sixth starting appearance for the senior side, Joe Heyes made 17 tackles in 56 minutes on the pitch for the 20-year-old and beat out Tom Youngs (16) and Noel Reid (15) to top the Tigers tally for the match.

Reid, who received the BT Sport Man of the Match award for his performance in the bonus-point victory at fly-half, had 5 carries, 13 passes and 6 kicks out of hand in his 69 minutes.

The new recruit also contributed 5 points from the kicking tee with a conversion and a penalty-goal.

Notable mentions include Guy Thompson, who scored the first try of the match, for his 14 tackles in 64 minutes, Greg Bateman for 17 clear outs in 50 minutes at loose-head prop and Kyle Eastmond, who made 12 tackles at inside-centre.
