Strong show for England tourists

Leicester Tigers flanker Matt Everard scored two of England Under-18s' tries in a big win over Western Province in the second match of their South Africa tour.

Fly-half George Ford (Leicester Tigers/Rishworth School) converted 10 of the match's 15 tries in a 95-0 victory as England followed up their opening 36-11 triumph against Boland in which Tigers Academy full-back Joe Cobden was among the scorers.

Everard was on the mark as early as the second minute, crashing over after some strong work in the England lineout, and he soon added another as the tourists racked up seven first-half scores to lead 43-0.

With Western Province side missing a number of players due to call ups for the national schools’ side, England continued to press forward before the referee stopped the game with five minutes to go because of the weather conditions.

Tigers prop Ryan Bower joined Everard and Ford in the England starting XV.

The tour concludes with a fixture against South Africa Schools at the TWK Park stadium in Kimberley on Friday.
