Tigers 'utility' back Mat Tait has claimed his second Spire Man of the Match award of the season after winning the prize with more than 58% of the vote in the win over Wasps at Welford Road.

Tait, who was injected in to the game much earlier than planned, after an injury to Manu Tuilagi saw the versatile back come on at outside centre early in the first-half at the same time fellow outside-back Nick Malouf replaced a concussed Jonny May.

The former England fullback was presented his award by Tigers longest-serving member of staff, Cheryl Hill, who is a part of the Grounds Staff at Welford Road and the club's Oval Park training base.

Supporters can vote for their Spire Man of the Match using the Tigers Mobile App from half-time at each Welford Road fixture, with voting closing after the full-time whistle.

Second behind Tait was fellow replacement Ellis Genge, who received 8% of the vote for his influence in closing out the match for the win, and third was scrum-half Sam Harrison who received 6% for his 60 minute effort in guiding the side around the pitch.

When asked about the win, a surprised Tait was quick to thank supporters for the honour.

"Oh, wow, really? Thank you to all the fans who voted," he said.

"I have to thank my extended family who must have voted for me as well. My wife is at home probably voting as well," Tait joked.

The fixture was played in front of a sell out crowd at Welford Road, which Tait said was 'great' to have.

"The atmosphere is always amazing. It's so loud and absolutely great to have a sell out."

"The noise was incredible."
