The Big Boot has become a popular part of the matchday entertainment at Welford Road and this season it's going to be even bigger and even better.Starting on Saturday, when Tigers face Newcastle Falcons in the Kings of the North (3pm kick-off) half-time will feature The Ultimate Big Boot, sponsored by De Montfort University.
Our first competitors are local clubs Syston and Leicester Forest, and they’ll be looking to set the benchmark for the rest of the season.
Find out what’s new and who takes an early-season place on top of the leaderboard at Welford Road this Saturday.
The rugby team from De Montfort University topped the 2014/15 Big Boot scoreboard with seven catches taken in the rain during half-time in the Aviva Premiership win over Saracens in November.
Representatives of Meden Vale RFC and Warley RFC were the only other teams to catch at least half of their attempts until the penultimate home game of the season when Welsh visitors Ystradgynlais RFC also claimed five catches.
Tigers staff and the team from Bito Storage Systems (at the last home game of the season) were the most successful non-playing participants with four catches each, followed by AR Demolition.
Undoubtedly one of the most popular teams with the home support was the group of clergy from the Richard III Appeal, who made one catch.
The Ultimate Big Boot is available to group bookings. Participants must be aged 16 or over. All participants receive a Big Boot T-shirt as a souvenir. For more information, phone the Tigers Group Days team on 0116 2171 216.
