Welford Road will host its record league crowd when Tigers open their new Caterpillar Stand for the match against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, September 19 - and tickets are still available!

Ticket sales at the home of the defending Guinness Premiership champions have already topped the 17,498 figure which has served as stadium capacity in previous seasons.

The doors to the new 10,000-seat Caterpillar Stand will be opened in time for the first home game of the Guinness Premiership season, taking stadium capacity to 24,000.

And with three weeks to go, the defending Guinness Premiership champions are already guaranteed to host Welford Road's biggest-ever league crowd for that opening fixture.

“This week we have seen our ticket sales for the opening home game surpass the 17,498 figure which has been our stadium capacity until this summer,” said club chairman Peter Tom CBE.

“That is a significant step because every single ticket sold from now until kick-off on September 19 represents someone who would have had to be turned away in the past.

“For the last five years or so we have had to disappoint some supporters because the majority of games have been sold-out. But now, with a capacity of 24,000, we can look forward to hosting many more who want to share in the special atmosphere of a Welford Road matchday.”

Tigers season ticket sales have topped 13,000 and more than 60 per cent of the Welford Road stadium is already sold out for the entire season.

To celebrate the opening of the Caterpillar Stand, and the first home game since claiming the league title for a record eighth time last May, Tigers have announced special ticket prices and initiatives for the match against the Falcons.

“We really want to celebrate our first home game of the season in style with a full house and the amazing atmosphere that will create,” added Peter Tom.

“The club has always enjoyed fantastic support and we are very excited at being able to welcome so many more supporters with the addition of the superb new facilities for this season.”

Tickets for Tigers versus Falcons game are priced at £15 adults, £10 young adults/full-time students and £5 juniors. There is free entry for under-10s, as well as a Try Before You Buy scheme which allows supporters to redeem the ticket value against a season ticket or entry to any other match, and the Tigers Pick ‘n’ Mix option offering the chance to buy tickets for three games and free entry to a fourth.

Match tickets are now on general sale from the Tigers ticket office. Phone the ticket hotline on 0844 856 1880, call in at Welford Road or book online at www.leicestertigers.com
