Tigers are first up in Blues' new home

Leicester Tigers will provide the opening opposition for Cardiff Blues in the new Cardiff City Stadium this summer.

The Guinness Premiership champions, who locked horns with the Blues in EDF Energy Cup and Heineken Cup last season, go to Cardiff for a pre-season fixture on Friday, August 21 (7.30pm kick off). Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for juniors.

The Blues director of rugby David Young said: “Everyone is looking forward to our first match at the new stadium. We visited it this week and it is very impressive.”

The Tigers squad are now into their pre-season training programme and will face their first match action of the summer against Montpelier on Wednesday, August 5 and Castres three days later as part of the Vaquerin Challenge based in Saint Affrique and Camares in the south of France.

The squad then take the short trip to face Nottingham at Meadow Lane on the weekend of August 15/16 and Cardiff Blues the following week before the home fixture against Munster on Friday, August 28 (7.30pm).

Tickets for the Munster match will be priced £10 adults, £5 juniors, £25 family ticket. Tickets are not on sale yet, but updates and advice for season ticket holders will be published here soon.
