Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby team will be hoping to close out the domestic season in style as they aim to scoop a first-ever league and cup double on April 6-7.

Tigers were crowned Super Series Division One champions for the second successive season this year going the campaign undefeated, and will be hoping to add more silverware at The Nationals - a week-end long tournament involving the country's top six teams.

Held a the Morningside Arena in Leicester, the club has never won the domestic double and Tigers head coach Darren Matthews is confident in the ability of his squad.

"There's a very good vibe around the club at the moment", he says. "We haven' really talked about The Nationals, for us it's more about the constant improvement needed at every session.

"I'm really proud of the team. Our senior players have gone out of their way to up-skill new players and there's been a real maturity that has developed in this squad.

"The Nationals is going to be tough. Some teams will have added a few more personnel and the schedule will be a round-robin tournament so no second chances. We're looking forward to it."

Darren and his team have called upon their international experience as well this season with six members of the squad having represented Team GB this season alone, including the recent King Power Quad Nations tournament between Japan, France and Canada in March.

He explains:

"I believe this team and this club has a very bright future. The first team have inspired the notion for a second team to help create an environment within training that is inductive to breeding a talented pool of players."

LTWR are supported by club partner Hafele and will be in action on April 6-7 at the Morningside Arena, Leicester. To find out more about getting involved with the club, click the link below.
