More than 100 motorbikes roared into the VIP car park at Welford Road on Saturday as the Leicestershire & Rutland Blood Bikes completed a charity ride.

Riding to raise money for the Children’s Emergency Department at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, bikers held an ‘Egg Run’ starting at Victoria Bikers Club in Coalville and finishing at the Tigers stadium.
Armed with Easter eggs and donations for children at Leicester’s hospitals, the Blood Bikes are all volunteers who deliver a free, out-of-hours courier service of blood, blood samples and products between Leicestershire hospitals.
At the end of the ride, the group also held a raffle in The Final Whistle bar, where top prize was four tickets to the Tigers match against Newcastle Falcons this Saturday.
Su McKinley, sister in the children’s emergency department at Leicester Hospitals, said: “The Children's Emergency Department would like to say a massive thank you. The money raised will go towards our brand new Children's Emergency Department, for vulnerable patients with the aim of creating a less clinical environment.”
Chairman of the Leics & Rutland Blood Bikes, Oliver Cufflin, added: “We have a fantastic group of people willing to give up their time to do something to support the local hospitals of Leicestershire and Rutland. The Easter Egg run is a wonderful example of the willingness of not only group members but local motorcyclists as well, coming together to give an extra boost to the superb work of the staff at the Children’s Emergency Department."
Phil Warrington, PR Officer at Leicester Tigers, said: “It’s always great to support local causes and it’s amazing to hear about the work the Blood Bikes do in the community. We were happy to host them and have a celebratory drink ready for them at the finishing line.”
