New Zealanders Scott Hamilton, Craig Newby and Thomas Waldrom plan to have match shirts signed by Tigers team-mates and auctioned to raise money in support of the relief effort.
Christchurch-born Hamilton said he has heard that his immediate family were safe.
“I got a text from my brother saying my family was all okay,” said New Zealand international Hamilton. “Buildings that I have seen hundreds of times and streets that I have walked down, to see them in that sort of a state and people hurt is tough.
“We are going to try to help out as much as we can and plan to auction some shirts. They will need a lot more than that but every little helps,” said the former Canterbury Crusader.
Fellow All Black Newby added: “I woke up to the news this morning. I have got friends and family over there and wish them all the best.
“I was watching the news and it was a pretty tragic situation. We would love to be able to do something to help.”
Waldrom, the former Canterbury Crusader No8, said: “I woke up Tuesday morning with a text from my wife, who is back in New Zealand, telling me what had happened.
“It’s pretty devastating to hear what had happened and seeing all the photos on the internet was hard to take.”
Details of the auction process will be published on the Tigers website as soon as possible.
In a statement released by the RFU, England team manager Martin Johnson said: “On behalf of the England squad I want to extend our sympathies to the families of those who have lost their loved ones and all affected by the Christchurch earthquake.
“Many of us have a close association with New Zealand and its people and our hearts go out to those suffering as a result of this second disaster in six months.”
