Tigers Multi-Sports joins Schools Race for Life

Tigers club mascot Welford joined pupils at Inglehurst and Dovelands Primary Schools to take part in a fun run raising money for Cancer Research UK.

More than 650 pupils and teachers put on their running shoes and completed the half-hour track run in the baking summertime heat.

Tigers Multi-Sports team was also on hand to cheer and support the pupils with Welford joining in the fun out on the track.

The Race for Life run was organised by Alex and Tanya Cross – husband and wife teachers at both Dovelands and Inglehurst. Along with the support of teachers and parents, the nearby play area was transformed into a running track with refreshments and stalls to keep energy levels up.

Chatting to Tanya, who is assistant headteacher at Inglehurst Junior School, she said: “We both wanted to do a Race for Life event and thought about doing this individually, before thinking why don’t we do this together. This way the children can meet each other come together within the community and hopefully raise a lot more money.”
