Tigers offer to fans stranded in Ireland

Leicester Tigers are offering two free tickets to this weekend’s fixture with Munster Rugby to supporters who were delayed on their return from the Champions Cup game in Limerick.

Tigers received fantastic backing at Thomond Park as supporters made themselves heard in the stadium and enjoyed the hospitality of the city.

However, scores of supporters and Welford Road staff were held up on their return journey as snow in the UK forced the closure of a number of airports, including Birmingham and Stansted.

Some fans were forced to stay an extra night in Ireland to catch flights home today, others had their flights diverted to other airports, while some supporters travelled to Dublin and Cork in order to catch a flight to unaffected UK airports.

Tigers chief executive Simon Cohen said: “Tigers enjoy tremendous support at home and abroad and they were fantastic again in Munster, despite the result.

“The supporters always turn out in numbers and add colour and noise to a big European occasion.

“The delays over the weekend were unfortunate but our fans faced them with typical stoicism, patience and good-humour.”

Tigers v Munster kicks off at Welford Road at 5.30pm on Sunday.

Supporters who were delayed are asked to email [email protected] or visit the Welford Road ticket office with their Tigers reference number and a copy of either their boarding pass or flight confirmation details.

Tickets are subject to availability. Where possible, tickets will be allocated near to season ticket holders’ seats.

Supporters have until 5pm on Friday (December 15) to claim their free tickets.
