Tigers on tour - atmosphere begins to build

Figure image
Supporters who made the trip to Clermont-Ferrand for Tigers' Heineken Cup game woke to light snow fall on Sunday.

The hundreds of Leicester fans were wrapped up in their red, white and green colours against the freezing temperatures.

The pretty Christmas market in the shadow of Clermont’s Gothic cathedral provided a natural meeting point for many fans, while the bars and cafes in the adjacent streets were filling up as the atmosphere began to build.

Some bars displayed warm messages for the Tigers supporters, including the appropriately-named Garden Ice bar in Place de Jaude, which had a personal welcome in its window for Richard Cockerill, who enjoyed two years as a player with ASM Clermont Auvergne.
