Leicester Tigers will keep the covers on for as long as possible to protect the Welford Road pitch from frost ahead of this evening's Heineken Cup match against Clermont Auvergne.
The pitch has been covered since Thursday and, for further protection, a canopy was added, under which warm air was blown to provide a second barrier against the weather.

David Clayton, Tigers managing director, said: “The forecast predicted low temperatures so we have protected the pitch and we are also taking steps to ensure the terraces and stands are clear of any ice.
“This is a massive game for us and one we have to win. We want as many of our supporters as possible to come down here and be that 16th man on the sidelines.”
Tickets for the match, which is a 6pm kick-off, are available now from the Tigers ticket office. Phone 0844 856 1880, book online or call in at Welford Road.
