Tigers ready for tough challenges - Crane

Player-of-the-month Jordan Crane says Leicester Tigers are looking forward to a tough run of matches over the Christmas period.

Tigers visit Perpignan for a Heineken Cup Pool Three encounter this Sunday before returning to Guinness Premiership action against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, December 20. Tigers then travel to Twickenham to play Harlequins on Saturday, December 27, before hosting Bath on Sunday, January 4.

Crane said: “We have to take every game as it comes. We have set it up nicely with last Saturday's game and we have to take that confidence into every game of this month.

“I think it's going to be a tough month but we have the squad and the players to deal with it.

“It's going to be massive. I think we are prepared to do what it takes to come out in the best position possible.”

Crane admitted he was surprised to have been named Tigers player-of-the-month for November. The No8 won the supporters' vote ahead of Marco Wentzel, Julien Dupuy and Johne Murphy. It capped an excellent month for the 22-year-old, who made his England debut in the autumn international against Australia.

Crane said: “It's quite surprising to be named player-of-the-month considering I was away with England quite a bit.

“There were a couple of disappointing results for us but for me it was good to get that first England cap.

“It's always nice to be voted by the fans and it's great to get it.”

Voting is already underway for the December player-of-the-month award, which is sponsored by Leicester jewellers Lumbers, with prop Julian White leading the way following his performance in the 38-27 win over Perpignan.
