Welford Road will host a Leicester Tigers pre-season double header on the evening of Friday, August 29, just a week before the start of the new Aviva Premiership campaign.

The Tigers squad will be divided between two fixtures on home turf in the final part of preparations of the new season.

A fixture against Doncaster Knights will kick-off at 5pm, with Cardiff Blues then providing the opposition in the second match at 7.30pm.

Entry to this pre-season double header is included in all Leicester Tigers season tickets for 2014/15.

Tickets for all other supporters will go on sale soon.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “Two games on one day provides a good opportunity for us to get game-time into all of the players in the final weekend before the start of the season.

“It should prove an attractive evening for the supporters too.”

Doncaster Knights clinched the National One title in 2013/14 to win promotion back to the RFU Championship. Young Tigers props Tiziano Pasquali and Riccardo Brugnara gained senior experience with the Castle Park club during their promotion-winning campaign, while former Tigers, Wales and British & Irish Lions prop Darren Morris joined the club as player/scrum coach during the season.

Cardiff Blues will start next season under new director of rugby Mark Hammett and have added internationals Josh Turnbull, Manoa Vosawai and Tavis Knoyle to their squad since the end of their Celtic League campaign.

The August 29 fixtures will be the only home games of the Tigers pre-season programme.

An away fixture against Edinburgh Rugby at Melrose RFC has now been confirmed for Saturday, August 23. An opening pre-season fixture is still to be confirmed for the weekend of August 15/16/17 .
