Tigers selected for Wheelchair Rugby Worlds

Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby players Nick Cummins and Jamie Stead will represent Great Britain at the World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge 2019 (WWRC2019) from October 16-20 in Tokyo.

The tournament, which runs alongside the Rugby World Cup, will feature the world’s top ranked nations and will be a test of where teams are a year out from the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Tigers head coach Darren Matthews and assistant coach Rob Tarr will also be joining Paul Shaw’s backroom staff.

Nick and Jamie have become regular fixtures in the Team GB set-up helping the national side win the Four Nations title and take part in this year’s European Championship in Denmark.

Team GB will take on Japan, France and Brazil in Pool A with Australia, USA, Canada and New Zealand making up Pool B.

The semi-final will take place on Saturday, October 19 with the bronze and gold medal game taking place before the closing ceremony on Sunday, October 20.

Keep an eye on the Tigers website for all the latest from the competition later this month.
