Flood and fellow Leicester Tigers teammates Tom Croft, Harry Ellis and Julian White all played their part in England’s 34-10 win over France at Twickenham on Sunday.
Tigers and England fly-half Flood said: “This was a product of how we'll we've trained over the past couple of weeks. We knew where we were after the Ireland match and we've worked really hard.
“The early try gave us a huge amount of confidence and allowed us to really start manipulating the ball.
“We don't have a crystal ball, so we can't say this is definitely the turning point - but it certainly feels like we've achieved something.
“We’ve set the bar pretty high after that performance and the onus is on us to replicate that next weekend against Scotland.”
His Tigers teammate Croft was named man-of-the-match after starring in the back and second row against France.
Croft said: “We’d been showing glimpses in the last couple of games - having yellow cards but still only losing by a couple of points. The frustration in the camp all week led to excitement today though - the boys wanted to get out onto the pitch as quickly as possible, put things right and prove our doubters wrong.
“We knew we were better than how we'd played in previous games and were itching to get out there and show that. We knew that if we could keep the penalty count down then we had the potential to put on a bit of a spectacle.”
