Leicester Tigers have this week been showing the club's support for Leicester City Council and their Inward Investment Team at the annual MIPIM conference in France.Club favourites George Chuter, Louis Deacon and Rory Underwood joined commercial director Andrea Allen and some of the club’s community team in Cannes.
Tigers joined local businesses including Pick Everard and Innes England to promote the city of Leicester as a destination for big business.
The Inward Investment team were the driving force behind attracting IBM to the city this year and the council’s economic development plan has already delivered £67 million-worth of investment in the city, resulting in 6,000 new jobs.
Helen Donnellan, head of inward investment, highlights Leicestershire’s 50,000 graduates and close links via air, rail and road to Europe, as well as global brands including Leicester Tigers as being major factors driving investment into the city.
The Tigers team hosted a sports quiz and beach rugby event as well as meeting delegates at the MIPIM conference.
The club’s commercial director, Andrea Allen, said: “There is a lot of work going into attracting investment into the city of Leicester and as a major brand in this region and beyond, the Leicester Tigers are happy to support those efforts. We had a very warm welcome to MIPIM, our events proved very popular and we hope that has an influence with those companies looking to invest in our region.”
