Leicester Tigers have kicked off their first-ever rugby camp in Belguim.

More than 150 young players aged from under-six through to under-18s are working with Tigers coaches on a camp at Dendermonde RFC, the home of the Flanders 10s, Europe’s biggest 10s tournament.

Scott Clarke, Tigers head of community & global partnerships, said: “Dendermonde is a great community club and we are delighted to be partnering with them.

“They have made huge strides, winning the Belgian league and now competing in the European Rugby Continental Shield, and have just opened a new €;2 million clubhouse and facility.

“We look forward to strengthening the links between the two clubs.”

Closer to home, more than 150 youngsters took part in a Tigers Rugby Camp at Loughborough Grammar School last week.

Tigers lock Graham Kitchener joined the groups for a Q&A as well as signing autographs and posing for photographers with the potential stars of the future.

Tigers Rugby Camps offer a fun and active way for players of all abilities to take part in sessions ran by qualified Tigers coaches.

The two groups were split into four full days for under-nines to under-15s and three half days for under-7s and under-8s, as the players learned new rugby tips and developed their skills.

Youngsters also received a free ticket to a game at Welford Road, free membership to the Junior Tigers Club and Tigers souvenirs to take away.

Mr Clarke said: “It was a great few days at the Loughborough Grammar School playing fields.

“It’s great to be able to offer some of the best rugby facilities in the region combined with our enthusiastic and dynamic Tigers coaching team, who are all looking forward to creating an outstanding learning environment for every player attending.

“Many of the present Tigers academy and senior players started on these camps – which is no coincidence.”

Tigers run more than 50 camps each season. Next week, Tigers will be running a camp at Peterborough RUFC and places are still available.

Players aged under-7s and under-8s can take part in three morning tag sessions between 9.30am and 12.30pm on April 18-20, while under-nines to under-15s  can enjoy four full days from 9.30am to 3.30pm from April 18 to April 21
