Robert Bakewell Primary School in Loughborough, Hall Orchard CofE School in Barrow on Soar, Newcroft Primary School in Shepshed and Burton on the Wolds Primary School will contest the finals on Saturday, before Tigers' Guinness Premiership game against Saracens.
The children earned the right to play at Welford Road after Leicester Tigers coaches delivered three weeks of tag rugby training at schools in and around Loughborough in January and February.
The coaching was part of Tigers’ Alliance and Leicester-sponsored Tag programme, a three-year rolling programme which sees Tigers deliver tag rugby coaching to every school in Leicestershire and Rutland. So far more than 60,000 children have enjoyed an introduction to rugby through the programme.
More than 1,500 nine and 10 year-old children in 25 schools have taken part in the Burleigh partnership, which concluded with a festival of rugby at Loughborough RFC.
Scott Clarke, Tigers community manager, said: “It promises to be an exciting end to Alliance and Leicester Tag’s Burleigh partnership.
“The four schools have done tremendously well to make it this far and I am sure they are all looking forward to playing at Welford Road.
“All of the schoolchildren who have taken part have been enthusiastic and have taken on board everything we have said. It has been a huge success.”
The Burleigh partnership winners will be invited back to Welford Road later in the season for the chance to be crowned Alliance and Leicester TAG Champions for 2008/09. They will take on the winners from South Charnwood and North West Leicestershire partnerships in a round robin competition before Tigers’ Guinness Premiership game against Sale at Welford Road on Saturday, April 4.
