Leicester Tigers season ticket sales for 2009/10 have crashed through the 10,000 mark just two weeks after the end of the 2008/09 campaign.
Tigers, who claimed a record eighth league title after victory in the Guinness Premiership Final and reached the final of Europe’s Heineken Cup for a fifth time in 12 years, have embarked on a redevelopment programme for their Welford Road stadium with phase one open for the new season when the new Caterpillar Stand takes capacity up to 24,000.
“The club enjoyed an exciting end to the season and that excitement has continued with the rate of season ticket sales for 2009/10,” said Leicester Tigers managing director David Clayton.
“To pass the 10,000 mark for season ticket sales by the first week in June is excellent news and just shows the level of interest in Leicester Tigers and the loyalty of our support.
“Sales are around 2,000 ahead of the same stage last summer.
“The last couple of months have been very busy for our supporters with semi-finals and finals in two competitions, as well as travel and accommodation for the Heineken Cup Final in Edinburgh.
“For that reason, we extended the deadline for season ticket renewals by two weeks to June 15. We would urge all of our current season ticket holders to renew their tickets as quickly as possible so they can retain their seats.”
Prices have been held at the 2008/09 rates for all season tickets.
Adult season tickets start at £245 for terrace or £275 for seating, while a new ‘Young Adult and Full-Time Student’ category has been introduced for next season to help supporters to bridge the gap between junior and adult rates.
Season tickets are available for one, two or three seasons and there is an easy-payment scheme in operation.
