Tresidder shares in Varsity victory

Leicester Tigers academy graduate George Tresidder was a Varsity rugby winner with Oxford University at Twickenham on Thursday afternoon.

Scrum-half Tresidder played at Doncaster after leaving Tigers but is now studying History at Oxford.

He started the Varsity clash with Cambridge in a team which featured extensive professional experience including skipper Dom Waldouck, lock George Robson and full-back Ben Ransom.

Oxford pulled away in the second half to win 38-16 in a match officiated by Nigel Owens who will also take charge of the Tigers match against Racing 92 in Paris in the Heineken Champions Cup on Sunday afternoon.

There was a Tigers presence within the Cambridge ranks too with hooker Ross McMillan in charge of coaching their scrum for a second season.

Cambridge University were 8-5 winners in the women’s match.
