Try Park and Ride to Tigers

Tigers fans are being encouraged to use the new park and ride service from Enderby to get to Saturday's match against Bath.

The park and ride has a stop outside Leicester Royal Infirmary, just a short walk from the Welford Road stadium.

The service runs every ten minutes until 7pm, Monday to Saturday. A day ticket is £3 and a group ticket for up to five passengers travelling together is just £3.50.

Supporters can use the new service to arrive in plenty of time for the 3pm kick-off against Bath.

Lesley Pendleton, Leicestershire County Council cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We hope that with space for 1,000 cars, the new park and ride from Enderby can help to ease some of the matchday congestion and take away some of the hassle of finding a parking space close to the Tigers’ stadium.”

Charles Rayner, head of stadium operations at Leicester Tigers, said: “It’s fantastic news that Tigers supporters will be able to make use of the new park and ride.

“The opening of the Caterpillar Stand this season means that attendances are exceeding 20,000 and the new service will make it easier than ever for supporters to get to and from the ground while removing the need to find city-centre parking.”

The new park and ride service is a joint project between the City and County Councils and construction partners Tarmac.
